"The whole process of Harmony House, Tertiary Care, Satellite houses, has helped me settle back into society and regain my place in society. I am now a functional, working, law-abiding person"
 Marelize B (Johannesburg, South Africa)

I arrived in South Africa over 14 months ago physically dying with anorexia (38kg), mentally an emotional wreck (a little girl that couldn't stop crying), spiritually in a very dark place, and struggling to have relationships with family and fellows. Although I had little personal hope when I arrived in South Africa, the staff and community at Harmony believed that I was not hopeless. Over a period of three months that I stayed at Harmony I started to re-learn how to live - how to cook, eat and exercise moderately (my weight went up to 57kg), how to have friends without overbearing people with control, and how to take responsibility for myself and my own actions (rather than waiting for the cavalry to come). Furthermore, I was encouraged to throw myself into a routine of attending 12 step fellowship meetings, doing step work with a sponsor and working on developing my spirituality which helped me to start to re-integrate slowly and cautiously into the outside world. Today I am back living in the UK, I qualify as a lawyer in September, I have friends (which I never had before) and my relationship with my family is strong (as opposed to being distant). In short miracles have happened within the passed year. Love and gratitude to Harmony always. xx

Firstly may we thank yourself and all of the team at Harmony House, especially Dr Gordon Isaacs for the care you have given to our Son B.C. He has been home for the last six weeks for a visit and it was wonderful to see him so well, so thank you to all of you.
If there is anything that we can ever do to help Harmony House, please ask as we would be happy to oblige. We will of course be a great testimonial to the great levels of care, and expertise which B.C. has received during his stay with Harmony and all of you.
B.C. is right now on his way back to Cape Town, he will be staying at Serendipity again. He loves South Africa and has found a position out there which we hope he will settle in to.
